The Austrian Association for Sociology (ÖGS) is delighted to announce its 28th Congress. This prestigious event has a long-standing tradition of bringing together sociologists from Austria and beyond to discuss the latest developments in the field. The theme for the upcoming congress is „The Climate of Society.“

Multilingual Participation at ÖGS Congress 2025
While the ÖGS Congress is primarily a German-speaking event, we warmly welcome international participants. To foster a diverse and inclusive academic environment, we also encourage submissions for sessions and papers in English. Whether you are presenting or attending, your contributions are valued and essential to the success of our congress. We look forward to your participation and to enriching our discussions with a wide range of perspectives.
Dates and Venue
The 28th Congress of the Austrian Association for Sociology will be held from June 30 to July 2, 2025, at the Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz. Graz, with its blend of historic charm and modern innovation, provides a vibrant and inspiring backdrop for a congress. Its rich cultural heritage, coupled with excellent infrastructure and accessibility, ensures a memorable and productive experience for all attendees.
Call for Sessions
We invite scholars to submit session contributions on topics related to the congress theme. All submissions will undergo a review process conducted by members of the board of the ÖGS. The call for contributions will be published in fall 2024.

Two leading representatives of our field have already been confirmed for the two keynote speeches at the ÖGS Congress:
