Call for Journal Contributions

The University of Johannesburg Press publishes the Clinical Sociology Review, an open-access journal with articles available in three languages – English, Spanish and French. There are no submission or publication fees. The Clinical Sociology Review was first published in 1982 and all those issues are available through the Wayne State University Press website. Contributions are welcome to the journal’s three sections: The History of Clinical Sociology, Articles, and Resources.

MethodsNET is inviting scholars to be a part of the Methods Excellence Network’s grand launch events from October 30 to November 2, 2024, in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, for three events:

  • ‚Training the Trainers‘ Event (Oct 30)
  • MethodsNET Launch Conference (Oct 31 & Nov 1)
  • ‚Methods Innovation Workshops‘ Event (Nov 1 & Nov 2)

The Co-Chairs will play a pivotal role in refining event concepts, schedules, and programs, drafting comprehensive event descriptions and calls for contributions, contributing insights to the event budget, participating in the selection process for proposals and participants, attending the entirety of the events, and engaging in post-event debrief sessions with the MethodsNET Executive Board. In return, MethodsNET offers full back-office support, including admin/IT assistance, ongoing support from the Executive Board, and coverage of travel, accommodation, and catering expenses.

The Remarque Institute is delighted to announce Technology, the Environment, and the Future of Europe, a new Initiative that we are undertaking thanks to a generous grant from the Open Society Foundations. The Technology, the Environment, and the Future of Europe (TEFE) Initiative aims to reboot and foreground the study of European politics in the Anthropocene. It is devoted to the multidisciplinary, intersectional study of technology and the environment and its profound effects now and well into the future on Europe, both in the domestic and international spheres. Of particular interest to us are the often-conjoined opportunities and challenges of technology and the environment as these determine the future of democracy as well as the transformation of civil society, work, the public sphere, and the decision-making of electorates.

Visiting Fellowships and Graduate Fellowships are semester-long, corresponding to NYU’s academic calendar. All four fellows would receive an office at Remarque and visiting scholar status to use NYU’s libraries, databases, facilities, and privileges; all four would also receive a stipend. Visiting Fellows also receive an apartment at no cost or an equivalent housing stipend.

Die Sektion Wissenssoziologie der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Soziologie lobt 2024 den zum fünften Mal zu vergebenden „Forschungspreis Ethnographie“ für innovative und herausragende Arbeiten auf dem Gebiet ethnographischer Sozialforschung aus. Der Preis ist mit 1.500 Euro dotiert und wird im Rahmen der in der Regel alle zwei Jahre durchgeführten „Feldarbeitstage“ verliehen. Die Konferenzreihe wurde von Anne Honer unter dem Namen „Fuldaer Feldarbeitstage“ gegründet. Die anstehenden 9. Feldarbeitstage haben Ort und Anbindung gewechselt und finden im Juni 2024 ein erstes Mal an der TU Dortmund statt.

Die Bundesanstalt für Agrarwirtschaft und Bergbauernfragen (BAB) ist ein sozio-ökonomisches Forschungsinstitut des Bundesministeriums für Land- und Forstwirtschaft, Regionen und Wasserwirtschaft (BML). Im Rahmen der Beteiligung an internationalen Projekten aus dem EU-Rahmenprogramm Horizon Europe ist das Institut in Forschungsprojekten zur Entwicklung des ländlichen Raums, der Berggebiete und der Bewertung von relevanten Politikprogrammen tätig. Für das Horizon Europe Projekt SERGIO (Social Economy for Resilience, Inclusion and Good Life in Rural Areas) suchen wir interessierte Absolventinnen bzw. Absolventen mit sozio-ökonomischem Studienabschluss für eine Verwaltungspraktikumsstelle für den Zeitraum von 12 Monaten.
